Rich in history, art and culture, the Baltic Sea is one of the most fascinating cruising destinations. Medieval cities contrast with cosmopolitan capitals and architectural influences reflect both east and west. A highlight of this cruise is an overnight stay in St. Petersburg with two full days to explore ornate churches and cathedrals, the magnificent Hermitage Museum with its world-renowned art collection and opulent palaces once home to Russian tsars.

Relax on board Marco Polo as you cruise towards the Baltic Sea with its strong maritime heritage. Beautiful buildings, a cosy knot of attractive streets laced with winding canals, charming Copenhagen is the first of six fascinating ports of call. Explore this warm, welcoming city, or perhaps visit the enchanting Tivoli Gardens. Sassnitz on Rügen Island, the largest German island in the Baltic Sea, offers an option to visit Jasmund National Park – home to many rare plants and animals. In the Estonian capital of Tallinn, exploring the Old Town reveals a wonderful medieval gem. In contrast St. Petersburg is a city of imperial splendour with grand cathedrals, palaces, gilded domes, minarets and soaring fountains. An overnight stay enables you to discover the Russian city of the tsars through a selection of carefully chosen excursions. Known as the ‘White City of the North’, Finland’s capital Helsinki is always a delight. Alternatively an optional tour introduces the historic town of Porvoo. Your final visit is Stockholm where optional tours include the Vasa Museum and atmospheric old quarter Gamla Stan. Leaving the Swedish capital you sail through the beautiful Stockholm archipelago before your voyage back to Tilbury with a transit of the Kiel Canal.
