A magnificent voyage to the Land of Fire & Ice

Discover why Iceland is legendary as the “Land of Fire and Ice’. An exciting circumnavigation of this extraordinary country introduces an amazing landscape of vast ice caps, active volcanoes, thundering waterfalls, bubbling mud pools and spurting geysers. This fascinating cruise combines all this with a visit to one of the world’s smallest capitals on the remote Faroe Islands and two of Scotland’s most isolated yet fascinating island archipelagos.

A day is spent enjoying life on board Marco Polo before reaching colourful Tórshavn where the core of the old town is made up of red wooden houses with turf-covered roofs. Discover the dramatic Faroe Islands scenery on an optional tour. Eskifjördur is an exciting introduction to the remarkable landscapes and remote communities of Iceland’s eastern fjords. Delightful Akureryi is capital of the north and your gateway to spectacular nature including the majestic Godafoss waterfall, moon-like, pseudo-craters at Skutastadir and the mud pools, steam vents and boiling springs at Namaskard. Isafjördur is the largest settlement in Iceland’s west fjords peninsula. An optional boat trip to Vigur Island is a must for bird-lovers. Reykjavik is the start of the optional classic ‘Golden Circle’ tour featuring the raging Gullfoss waterfall, geothermal field of Geysir and Thingvellir National Park. Bathing in the Blue Lagoon is a relaxing alternative. The largest and only inhabited island in the Westmann Islands, Heimaey is a fitting finale to Iceland before sailing to Lerwick to discover the rich Norse heritage and traditional crafts of Shetland. A call in charming Kirkwall offers a chance to discover Neolithic Orkney and Invergordon, gateway to the Scottish Highlands, rounds off this wonderful voyage.
